Toongabbie Legal Centre (TLC) is a free legal service (an unfunded not-for-profit community based legal centre) conducted by volunteers who are: solicitors, barristers, migration agents, law students, and other professionals. This service is offered from the Hall at St Anthony’s Church 27 Aurelia Street, Toongabbie and from Blacktown, on Thursday evening and Saturday mornings.
We function on funds raised by our own fundraising efforts, that is, through an annual dinner, sale of raffle tickets, donations, (tax deductible) and through fees collected from those who attend legal seminars offered to the legal professionals. In this way we are able to pay our insurance, rent, utilities, software, and legal and administrative costs.
The Centre has provided legal assistance, including limited court appearance over the years, arranged many community legal education experiences for local residents through participating in many festivals and jointly working with many community organisations, in Western Sydney region over the last ten years, conducting high quality, low-cost MCLE seminars for legal practitioners.
