TOPIC: Companion Animals: Owners’ responsibilities and consequence of failure of duty of care: Legal issues and their implications?
With over 24 million companion animals/ pets in Australia today, the importance of animal welfare continues to expand through greater consciousness of their inability to advocate for their welfare. Whilst the law provides protections for our animals, they are not always fully understood by companion animals/pet owners. This seminar will discuss how animal welfare laws can impact you, your neighbours and your dear and much loved companion animals/pets.
Chair: Russ Dickens, Veterinary doctor and former Mayor of Blacktown City Council
Presenters: Andrew Clachers, Principal Solicitor, Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA)
Ian Burr, Coordinator, Animal Holding Facility@ Blacktown City Council serving six councils: Parramatta, Cumberland, Ryde. Lane Cove, Hunters Hill & Willoughby
