Chief Justice of the Federal Court coming to Blacktown

Toongabbie Legal Centre (TLC) is proud to announce its Seventh Annual Fund-raising Dinner to be held on Friday, 28 November 2014 at Bowman Hall, Blacktown.

His Honour Justice J L B Allsop AO, Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia will be the Chief Guest at this year’s dinner. Last year His Honour T F Bathurst, the Chief Justice of NSW Supreme Court, was the Chief Guest.

“We are honoured that the Chief Justice of the Federal Court accepted the invitation to our Annual Fundraising Dinner and we are all looking forward to having him at the dinner,” Mr Christopher Jurd, the TLC President said.

Her Honour Justice Margaret Beazley AO, of the Court of Appeal and Patron of the Legal Centre, will preside over the formalities.

ABC journalist and Broadcaster James Carlton will be the Master of Ceremonies.

“The Legal Centre’s Annual Dinner is designed to engage with community organisations, elected representatives from various levels of government, judicial officers, policy makers, public servants, members of the legal profession and TLC supporters,” the TLC’s Honorary Director and the Acting Principal Solicitor, Mr Susai Benjamin said.

“The dinner is also an opportunity to focus on our objectives and to further promote our legal services among the community,” Mr Dean Bainbridge, one of TLC’s Solicitor, said.

“As an unfunded community legal centre, the dinner is the main fundraising effort of TLC, which has been providing free legal services to the community since 13 October 2007,” Mr Benjamin said.

“Based in Toongabbie, and a second service located in Blacktown (Blacktown Legal Centre-BLC), the TLC is run by over 100 volunteers and has grown into a service which is considered vital to those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged and are unable to seek the help of private lawyers or who otherwise have difficulty either understanding or accessing our legal system,” said Mr Benjamin.

“Those who wish to be a sponsor of the dinner or help with selling the $2 raffle ticket, should contact TLC through our website or call 1300 373 353” said Mr Benjamin.

Dinner tickets cost $75 per head. To purchase tickets or for further information visit the website: http://www.tlc.asn.au/ email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
